Transfer window shuts with a whimper rather than a bang

By: Rob | September 1st, 2009

Now a resident of London12 months ago it was so exciting. Here at the Offside we spent the entire day liveblogging the closing of the transfer window, excitedly. Manchester City had literally just been bought out and had one day to get…someone, anyone. Man United were courting Berbatov, and there were all kinds of rumours about Sir Alex beating Mark Hughes to death in a carpark in North London in an attempt to get to the Bulagrian first.

No such excitement this year, but a couple of transfers have gone through, and its only right that I round them up, so you’re not confused when Richard Dunne is actually playing on Match of the Day in a couple of weeks.

So transfers after the jump, although there is still time for them to fall through because of paperwork issues or whatever.

*Nico Kranjcar has filled the gap left by Luka Modric’s broken leg, as he has joined his international teammate at Spurs.

*Johnny Heitinga has completed his move to Everton from Atlético Madrid

*Richard Dunne has signed for Aston Villa, from Manchester City, for £6m

*Stoke signed Danny Collins from Sunderland for £2.5m

*Tal Ben-Haim will try and get his post-Chelsea career up and running again after he signed for Portsmouth.

*Ivan Klasnic has signed for Bolton on a season-long loan.

*Ibrahima Sonko has swapped Stoke City for Hull City.

*James Collins has left one team in Claret and Blue for another, leaving West Ham and joining Aston Villa.

*Teemu Tainio has left Sunderland to play for Birmingham

*David Nugent has signed for Burnley on loan till Jan

*David Elm will set down some new roots, as he joins Fulham.

That’s pretty much it, unless something really exciting happens.

Rob: just a thought i know a lot of people already have teams entered. so we’d just need someone to set up the private league and code. which i could do, to be honest.

I’m talking about the official, free, EPL fantasy league competition by the way.

If people are interested i will create a league and post the code.

Sorry Rob, hope I’m not upsetting anyone but I’ve set up a fantasy league and if anyone wants to join then feel free.

Hopefully it’ll be good fun and The Offside community will embrace it like Drogba’s less annoying brother.
