Where is my Saturday Football Fix?
By: Rob | October 4th, 2008
I’m not usually one for sentiment and tradition, but to get up on a Saturday and find that there are in fact only 3 EPL games kicking off on a Saturday at 3pm seems absolutely bizzare to me. Tradiotonally all the games kicked off on Saturday at 3. Even when Sky bought the Prem’s soul, it usually had one game on a Sunday and another on Monday. But a combination of Sky, Setanta Sports and the UEFA Cup is going to ruin Saturday afternoon.
In Italy, and Spain I know that the tradition is Sunday, when everyone is off work, but in England it has always been Saturday. Match of the Day is going to last about ten minutes tonight! There is a fourth game, it kicks off on Setanta this evening, but it just seems wrong.
My question to you guys, is, does it matter when the games are played? Are we missing the excitement of seeing all the goals go in at the same time, or is it better where a team knows what they have to do to keep up?
