EPL Ramblings – Title Race Back On & More…
By: Wayne Farry | March 23rd, 2009
So the title race is back on. Obviously. After Liverpool’s win at Old Trafford it looked like they’d got their foot in the door, but after the paltry performance by United at Craven Cottage and ‘Pool’s demolition of Aston Villa it is, without a single doubt, wide open.
Liverpool go to Craven Cottage to face Fulham on Saturday April 4 and if they win that match the pressure will really be on United. They face Villa at Old Trafford the day after and if Liverpool are 2 points ahead, even having played two games more, United must, simply must win!
Although, as most of you know I am a Man Utd fan, I’m actually quite happy that we have a proper title race. Obviously I wish that it had been going on from the start of the season and not come along in this pretty humiliating way but nonetheless, it’s great for the EPL.

No matter what happens this season, whether Man Utd regain their composure and finish off the job or Liverpool continue their blistering form and take the title back to Anfield, it’s going to be one hell of a finish. May the best team win, and I truly mean that.

In other news, more bad news for Chelsea fans after the defeat to Spurs at White Hart Lane; it appears that tentacled (see picture) Nicky Anelka is out for up to three weeks. He’s knackered one of his toes on his left foot (or so I hear) and he won’t play for a while. Sucks bad for Chelsea fans, as he’ll miss their next two EPL games and the first leg of their CL Quarter-Final. He’s also out of the current France squad.

In the final news Liverpool co-owner George Gillett is considering selling the Montreal Canadiens as he reviews his assets. As The Times speculates, this move may mean that if he’s reviewing his dealings then his stake in Liverpool could be the next thing to go. Not that many Liverpool fans would care.
