Spurs Have Sacked Ramos – Redknapp to replace him.

By: Rob | October 25th, 2008

Time is up for RamosIts been on the cards awhile, I put it to public vote a few weeks ago, and me and Wayne were discussing it in the preview to this weekend, but the inevitable has finally happened and the axe has fallen on Ramos’ head, he is no longer manager of Tottenham Hotspur.

Sporting Director Damien Comolli has also been shown the door, along with Gus Poyet (cue ‘Poyet to Newcastle rumours). Spurs currently sit bottom of the Prem.

Strange timing on this one, what with Spurs having a game tomorrow, you would have thought they’d have done it earlier in the week, or left it till Monday. But I suppose when even your star midfielder is speaking out against you, what the hell can you do? Ramos seemed to loose his dressing room a long time ago, and I fear the only reason he’s been kept in place so long is fear that they let Martin Jol go to soon.

What do you make of this Spurs fans? Was it the right call? Had his time come? or should he have been given longer?

Who’s going to replace him? Setanta is currently saying that Harry Redknapp is in talks with Spurs and the whisper is that he’s already taken the job, hence the crazy timing of this announcement – ‘Arry has presumably been in contact for days.

Will be great to see Harry Redknapp finally get a chance at a bigger club.

Seems quite odd of him to have walked away from the good job he was doing at Pompy though, particuarly with that Milan game coming up.

Still, presumably Tony Adams won’t be following him to White Hart Lane!

Yeah….if I was a Portsmouth fan I’d be a bit aggrieved at the manager walking out barely into the season.

Harry has defended himself on Setanta Sports by saying that Portsmouth needed the compensation Spurs were paying (£5m)

Harry needs to “defend” nothing! He worked miracles at a small club for 6 yrs. And they got 5 mil out of the deal. He owes them zero. Welcome, Harry. We are so glad to have you! Now, play this lineup, please:

    Hutton Corluka Woodgate Bale

    Lennon O’Hara Modric Gio

    Bent Palychenko

Do people seriously think Redknapp can do the business? I mean, Spurs still have Woodgate and King at the back right?

I wanna wish Ramos all the best, as a Sevilla and Spurs supporter I was stuck in the middle of a semi-war of hate. I know Ramos will succeed elsewhere in Europe but he is more of a tactical manager and the prem is a very raw and fast league that I believe he just couldn’t adapt to quickly enough. As for know, even though Harry was not my first choice as manager (I was thinking Roy Keane tbh) he definitely knows his way around the prem and is amazing at transfer dealings so he shall restore glory back to the mighty Tottenham Hotspur. If anyone was to blame for the Ramos situation I believe it was both Levy and Commoli, they should have forgot about the couple million quid for Arshavin and just signed him and got it over with, thank God Commoli is gone and there will be no more DOF. We need to pay more attention to our club, not personal bank accounts. COYS
