‘Shortlist’ of 30 to replace Curbs
By: Rob | September 4th, 2008
West Ham United have drawn up a shortlist of 30 candidates to replace Alan Curbishley as manager of West Ham. Curbishley walked away from the club yesterday due to a lack of trust from the board. Alot of names have been mentioned in conjunction with the job, but most of them have ruled themselves out already. The club has said that they will have a new manager by the end of the international period.
The fan favourite is Croatia manager, and former West Ham defender, Slaven Bilic. The Croat ruled himself out of the running this morning, saying he did one day want to manage West Ham, but in what is bad news for England, wants to take his country to the 2010 World Cup first.
Another favourite was former Hammers manager Harry Redknapp, but the current Pompy boss is apparently not on the shortlist of 30 bosses. Stuart Pearce, the current England Under-21 boss, but he too has ruled himself out of the running.
Bilic remains the bookies favourite to take over, the surprising second choice is former Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini. He would surely see a move to West Ham as a slight step down from winning the Scudetto, but hey-ho. He is thought to want to manage in England however, and did have a brief spell in this country for Leicester as a player.
Other names mentioned in conjunction with the job have been Nani, the clubs director of football, former Bolton manager Sam Allardyce, Kevin Keegan, Poalo di Canio and Glenn Hoddle. Who do you think should take the job? Hammers fans, who do you want?

I think we need to think up a plan to get Slaven Bilić occupied i.e. all of a sudden Rawbau goes on world-tour.
I’d like to see Terry Venables in the short list as he’d make sure the development program is looked after. Not sure how that would be taken though -
