Breaking: Tony Adams Sacked
By: Rob | February 8th, 2009
Tony Adams has been sacked as manager of Portsmouth. After a string of bad results since his appointment in the wake of Harry Redknapp’s move to Tottenham, the former Arsenal defender has been given his notice. There aren’t many details, but according to Wiki he found out from an internet forum. Imaginitive.
Presumably that wasn’t the actual case but still. I feel a bit for Tony. Alright so he wasn’t doing a very good job at Portsmouth – but they nearly got a result against Liverpool at the weekend, but for El Nino – and he seems like quite a humble fella these days. They only won two games under his tenure, but he did have half the side sold from under his nose to keep the club alive.
Adams had been in the job just three months.
I suppose the big question is – Who’s going to be next in the job? Any ideas? Anyone Portsmouth fans would like to see? Alan Curbishley has recently been linked to the role – he’s done good jobs before with smallish Prem clubs. Ex-Chelsea manager Avram Grant will be in the running to return to the club he was Director of Football at.
Paul Hart will take over while a new manager is found.

Strangely I’m quite shocked. After their fairly spirited display yesterday against Liverpool I thought he’d get more time. Another young English manager bites the dust, so to speak…

another manager out the door…
Who is next… Scolari?Manager should be given enough time to implement his style of play. If continue to change the manager, stability inside the team will be minimum and coz topsy turvy performance.
Next manager to replace Adams:
1. Avram Grant
2. CurbishleyPosted from

I hope A. Grant gets the nod. He has more managerial talent than many gave him credit for during his short spell at Chelsea.

Loss after Loss after Loss would Arsenal, Man U, Liverpool or any other big club keep a manager that had the ability of the now former Pompey manager, maybe he was a great player but he did nothing to prove he could manager or keep them in the top flight.

I’d go as far as to say that Tony Adams must have graduated from the Chris Hutchings School of Coach to Manager Transitioning.
Never works out for Hutchings at the top level. Adams was clueless, he’ll have to work his way up from the lower-leagues now if he wants to manage again in the EPL.
