C-Ron named FifPro Footballer of the Year

By: Rob | October 27th, 2008

Best player in the world? Cristiano Ronaldo has been named World Footballer of the Year by the Fifpro orginisation. Fifpro is the union of footballers around the globe. The award, which is really in its infancy, gets players from all over the world to vote for the player they think is most deserving of the award – and they also vote in a world XI while their at it. You can see the World XI at the Champions League Offside, but wanting to extend my congratulations to CR7 for picking up what will probably be the first of many awards this season. Previous winners of this award are Ronaldinho and Kaká.

Other Epl players to make the grade were John Terry (who has been voted in every season), Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand and Fernando Torres. Congratulations all.
