So, Have We Learned Anything So Far

Watch Burnley v Manchester United in Sports Online  |  View More Free Videos Online at Veoh.comFirst up, congratulations to Burnley, who stuck it to Man United with a 1-0 win against the Champions last night. Alright, they rode their luck a little – Carrick missed a pen – but lets take absolutely nothing away from them, that is a fantastic result.

Spurs currently sit top of the league after the absolutely battered Hull last night too.Chelsea went down again, before coming back and winning.

My question to all the Offsiders is – can we judge anything just yet? Or is it too early, less than a week into the season?

Manchester United of course, are notoriously slow starters. And they have certainly started slowly this season – they didn’t look entirely convincing against Birmingham, and a loss against Burnley does not look good for a side trying to defend a championship. But it probably doesn’t mean anything just yet – there’s still obviously a lot of time to rally and come back into the fold.

All three newly promoted sides have now got a win in the league – Burnley against Man United, Birmingham beat Portsmouth, and Wolves beat Wigan. No conclusions can probably be drawn can they though? About who’s going down?

But isn’t this what’s great about the Premier League? The bloody unpredictability of the thing. While we might bitch that the same four teams finish in the top four spots – though that might change this year – who would have predicted that Arsenal would have routed against Everton, Burnley would beat Man United and Liverpool would rally from defeat to stick 4 past Stoke?

Not I. And though its all fairly meaningless yet in the scheme of things, I love it.

yes manu r notoriously poor starters, but they’ve always had a few spl players 2 pull them outta trouble… this season of all seasons they need an awesome start since wat they r relying on is d fact that d team has been 2gether 4 a while 2 compensate 4 d loss of ronny n tevez… 1 loss isnt d end of d world, but d first 10 matches ll probably decice if theyll b fighting 4 d championship, or a place in d champions league..

Watch out for Spurs fans getting well ahead of themselves. Their neighbours in North London have always hit the ground running. After seeing Man City at Blackburn I really think that they could still be there or there abouts at Christmas. After that experience will win out

definitely too early to call anything. ManU need time to get everyone flowing together, and Liverpool need to add some depth to their squad. Arsenal and Chelsea both look pretty good so far but after two games it’s really anyones guess…

As with every season I’ll be surprised to see anyone break the top 4.

Remember last season. Hull City was in the top three, win after win, then by Xmas it was all a dream. Are Burnley going to be this season’s Hull?
