Anything you can do…I can do better…

Its been a weekend defined by last minute goals at the top of the table. Yesterday after piling on the pressure and hitting the frame of the goal four times, Liverpool came out on top against Fulham after a last minute Yossi Benayoun goal.
This afternoon, Man United sailed dangerously close to peril in the one-upmanship stakes as a stunning last minute strike from Macheda gave them a 3-2 win over fifth place Aston Villa.
United fans will be breathing a sigh of relief, as they looked in real trouble of losing at 2-1, as Villa outplayed them for large stretches. But just when it looked like Liverpool were going to inheret the title of last-minute wonder scorers, United pulled it back to put them back in the Championship driving seat.
Arsenal fans will also be pleased as with their win yesterday, they now sit comfortably ahead of Aston Villa, and well on course for a Champions League place, and can concentrate on the FA Cup and Champions League games ahead.
Liverpool have been the masters of late comebacks this season, becoming increasingly like the Man United side of the late 1990s. Their win against Fulham at Craven Cottage yesterday was making the Prem look trickier for United, who out of form and with a tough game against Villa today, might have been a touch worried.
Ronaldo opened the scoring for United, but goals from Carew and Agbonlahor looked like putting a ragged looking United out of the match. But Ronaldo grabbed a sweet second before Macheda’s brilliant goal put the game beyond doubt in the last minute.
You have to love the Premier League eh?

I guess your title for the post refers to Liverpool’s 5-0 drubbing of Aston Villa two Sundays ago? If I was a United fan, I’d be embarrassed. They got lucky against a Villa side that was manhandled by LFC.
