Week Six EPL Preview!

By: Rob | September 26th, 2008

Expect a Red, I tells ye.So, with the season really begining to take shape, we arrive into week six. The headline act this week is the Merseyside Derby, but I also have to mention the news that all 20 teams will have a manager, as Joe Kinnear has been appointed as Newcastle Temp. That is a worse choice than El Tel who supposedly turned them down, not something he’s particuarly famous for. Anyway, onward and sideward, here is you vital preview to the weekend games. Don’t forget to comment, it makes it all worthwhile.

Arsenal Vs Hull City

This is what the Prem is all about for new boys Hull, and their recent run of good form will be well and truely tested with an away visit to the Emirates Stadium. Surely Arsenal will win? Well thier only slip up thus far this season was against Hulls relegation rivals, Fulham.

Team News: Clichy is back for the Gunners, but Nasri remains out. Anthony Garder is out for Hull, but George Boatang will return.

Expect: Arsenal to win. Right?

Aston Villa Vs Sunderland

Both sides are performing above expectations this season, and should be a good game between two sides on a high.

Team News: Nyron Nosworthy picked up a hamstring in midweek and is out. Grant Leadbitter broke his nose in the same game and will miss out for the Black Cats.

Expect: An entertaining draw.

Everton Vs Liverpool

The Mersey derby might not have the same impact as the Man United/Liverpool games, but it still means alot to the people of Merseyside. It is also, usually a cracking match.

Team News: Arteta is expected to return for the Toffees, while the Reds are without Fabio Aurellio.

Expect: At least one red card.

Fulham Vs West Ham>

Another pair of sides performing above and beyond, despite early season expectations. Fulham helped by a notable win against Arsenal, and the Hammers got off to a flyer under new manager Gianfranco Zola.

Team News: Craig Bellamy may return for the Hammers, but Zola is still without Dean Ashton.

Expect: West Ham’s good form to continue.

Man United Vs Bolton

Fergie needs a big win to kick-start his season, so will relish Lancashire rivals Bolton’s visit to Old Trafford, The inconsistant Trotters sit 16th in the table.

Team News: Van Der Saar returns for Man United – luckily as stand in Tomas Kuszcak picked up an injury midweek. Gary Cahill and Johan Elmander should both return to the Bolton line up.

Expect – A United Win to jumpstart thier season.

Boro Vs WBA

If West Brom want to stay up they could do with picking up some tips from Boro – the masters of consistancy. Maybe they will when the two meet tomorrow.

Team News: Mido is back for Boro, after missing the derby last weekend, and Afonso Alves will play.

Expect – A few goals. a 2-2 draw I reckon.

Newcastle Vs Blackburn

The Alan Shearer derby as it isn’t known, sees 10th place Blackburn take on troubled Newcastle. Blackburn will be hoping thier wildly inconsistant form gets the better of Newcastle’s very consistant form.

Team News: Martins joins Newcastle’s long list of strikers with injuries (only a matter of time before Mickey Owen is back in that group). Paul Robinson is injured for Rovers.

Expect: I just don’t see it getting better on Tyneside unfortunatly.

Stoke Vs Chelsea

Stoke host in-form Chelsea, who will be looking to bounce off thier perofrmance against Manchester United with a win. Stoke held Liverpool last week, so with a bit more luck, who knows.

Team News: Ricard Fuller will be back for the Potters.

Expect: Chelsea to run riot, I would think.

Portsmouth vs Spurs

How much longer can Spurs ghastly form continue? Thier only positive result so far this season was a draw against Chelsea, and they sit bottom of the league. Portsmouth meanwhile will be hoping to bounce back from a terrible loss against Man City last weekend.

Team News: Diarra should return from portsmouth, and Sol Campbell and Jermaine Defoe should play against thier old club. Luka Modric is back for Spurs, while Michael Dawson also returns to the starting XI.

Expect: I think Spurs will finally pick up three points.

Wigan Vs Manchester City

Man City lost midweek against Brighton in the Carling Cup, but will want to bounce back against a Wigan side, who have a win and two draws in the Prem so far.

Team News: Neither side has any fresh injury worries going into the game.

Expect: I think Man City to grab a few goals.
