Congratulations to Champions Chelsea
By: Rob | May 9th, 2010Chelsea strolled to the Premier League title today, with an incredible 8-0 demolition of Wigan. Its tough to argue that they’ve been the best team in the league this season, and won it with some style.
Man United were in the running, but needed Chelsea to lose, which looked unlikely after Anelka opened the scoring. Lampard added a penalty after he was bought down Gary Caldwell (who was sent off). United won their game 4-0, but a hat trick from Drogba put Chelsea beyond United, and Drogba also nicked the Golden Boot from Rooney.
Chelsea have another game to play, the FA Cup final against Portsmouth next week, and it could be the first season in the club’s history that they’ve done the league and cup double. You wouldn’t bet against it.
Congratulations Chelsea.
