Chelsea try to hijack Kaka transfer

By: Rob | June 3rd, 2009

He might look elsewhere for guidanceWell, we should have seen this coming. Despite reports yesterday that Kaka’s move from Milan to Madrid was basically done and would be formalised early next week, reports are coming through from Sky Sports that Chelsea are attempting to move in on the deal with a better offer (for player and for Milan) that would see the former World Player of the Year in the Premier League at last.

I’m not enthusiastic about getting suckered into yet another Kaka transfer saga, but with who Chelsea’s new manager is, maybe there is a chance that they can prize the midfielder away from the San Siro.

And if they do get him? Well it certainly would suggest a clearout in West London.

With Ballack, Deco, Lampard, Essien, Mikel and then potentially Kaka all fighting for spots in the centre of the Chelsea midfield, a few of those have to go. Its not inconcievable that Deco would move to Inter where he could rejoin (from his Porto days, of course) Jose Mourinho, and Ballack would head back to Germany.

For Kaka, I think the time is right for him to leave Milan. Things seem to have gone a bit stale since domination of Europe a couple of years ago. Whether he sees Madrid or Chelsea as the better option is basically a toss-up though. Both are in the Champions League, but both will feel like they underperformed last season, have new managers and will be looking to rebuild over the summer.

Chelsea are apparently offering more money and of course with Carlo, a bit of familiarity, but he will have to forget the words “Andrei” and “Shevchenko”.

I hope he comes to Chelsea. Purely because I’d love to see a player of his quality in this country. Hopefully he’ll make it happen. Maybe he should ask, what would Jesus do. Play in blue?

I’ve always felt like Chelsea’s midfield was a bit overstocked. A clearout would make way for Kaka, and it would be great to see him week in and week out. Too bad for Chelsea blue-boo-hoo’s ;P

I dont understand chelsea sometimes. As stated, they have Ballack, Lamps, Essien, Deco and Mikel. Mikel was employed on the right often, but how many centre mids does chelsea plan on playing?

I know Essien and Lamps wont leave. Ballack just signed extension, and Mikel is a young talent. Kaka crowds the midfield. and then I read articles about potentially bringing in Pirlo. is chelsea planning to play a 3-6-1?
