Common Sense Prevails: Big Sam is new Blackburn Boss
By: Rob | December 17th, 2008
Despite his links with another Lancs club, and not being the bookies choice for the job, Big Sam Allardyce has replaced Paul Ince as manager of Blackburn Rovers, the club quickly announcing the choice, so that the club can move forward and not sit around for half a season musing on it alá Quinny at Sunderland.
Personally, as a neutral who spends a fair bit of time in the area, I think Big Sam will do a good job at Rovers. I know some fans will be a bit upset about the fact he was at Bolton so long, but to be honest, he did a really good job at that club, took them to unprecedated heights, and who knows, he could well do the same at Rovers.
I realise he didn’t have a successful spell at Newcastle, but I think we’ve since realised that really the problems at Newcastle lie deeper than who the boss is. And he wasn’t really given anytime to do anything there.
One of Blackburn’s problems this season has been perhaps the lack of the cutting edge they had under Mark Hughes. Even Santa Cruz hasn’t looked as lethal as he did last year. Blackburn pass the ball around well enough, but maybe Big Sam can give them a certain kick up the arse and orginise them a bit better.

“…but maybe Big Sam can give them a certain kick up the arse and orginise them a bit better.”
That is what I’m hoping for, more than anything right now.
